Westward Ho! Beach

Westward Ho! beach is just a few minutes from the Brokyna Holiday Cottage. This seaside village hosts numerous of holiday tourists each year and has a beautiful golden sanded beach that stretches for several miles. Backed up with the famous pebbled ridge which helps protect the small village from stormy weather.

The village was developed in the Victorian age after the famous Victorian love for the sea side and has remained the most popular destination ever since. The village has various tourist attractions including a few arcades, adventure park and the great Golden Fry whose fish and chips are probably the best in the surrounding area.

Other local sea side attractions in North Devon

Westward Ho! is not the only local seaside attraction in the local area. The North Devon Coast has a great variety of beaches. Most of which has a unique landscape which typically includes large rock faces but with golden sanded beaches.

Below we take a look at some of the other local beaches in the area and why people often come back to Devon to visit them again.

Instow Beach

Instow is a beautiful little village on the Taw and Torridge estuary. It has a selection of great restaurants which sit on the shore. Near by is the local sand dunes, a popular spot for a bit of sun bathing. Instow is also a hot spot for people who enjoy a little bit of metal detecting.

Clovelly Beach

Clovelly is a famous little village built on a steep hill which is only walkable. Although it leads down to a hidden rocky beach which is a favorite for fishermen and tourists alike. You will often find the catch of the day in the local pub which does great locally sources fresh food, including fish.

Abbotsham Cliffs

This very quiet little beach is only reachable via a couple of mile walk through several public walkways. If you like to explore and walk, this is the perfect place for you to do so. The water here is really clear and is a great place to settle down and have a picnic.
